- General Summary:
A Footwear Leather and Non-Leather Technician provides technical input and support to the teams and factories. This role is involved in all stages of material development and manufacturing. They provide technical support, troubleshoot where needed, find solutions, and improve efficiencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in spec review meetings with the PD and Materials teams to confirm material feasibility based on sample specifications, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
- Check, evaluate, and correct leather and non-leather materials to ensure that confirmation materials meet established standards.
- Attend leather and non-leather material shows, as appropriate, to stay informed about new developments, innovation, sustainability, and trends relevant to the brand.
Identify and evaluate potential risks, documenting findings and recommendations in a detailed Risk Assessment report. Participate in Risk Assessment meetings with the PD team.
- Provide support and technical guidance to the shoe finishing team to ensure proper execution and compliance with quality standards.
- Review daily emails and collaborate with the PD team to resolve issues and follow up on deadlines.
- Evaluate alternative leather and non-leather materials for confirmation samples and provide approved standards to the production team.
- Manage leather color swatches and provide them, along with color reference shoes, to the factory once pricing is confirmed.
Required Skills:
- Above 5 years’ experience in materials and leather sourcing for export-oriented company.
- Good experience with local leather and non-leather sourcing market.
- Strong business sense and analytical skills.
- IT-skills e-mail, MS Office, Excel
- Reporting and Excel Skills knowledge are required
- Fluent English oral and written
